Dear Graduates of the School of Canon Law,
On behalf of the faculty of the School of Canon Law, allow me to express our greetings to you in your service to the Church: may 2012 be full of God’s blessings for you and for those you serve. I wish to take this opportunity to update you on the School at this point in the 2011—2012 academic year and to alert you to upcoming institutes, talks and workshops that may prove of interest to you or to your colleagues.
One of more positive dimensions of the School is greater involvement with the bishops of the United States and with the Bishops’ Conference. The Faculty understand their service to the Conference and to individual bishops as an essential element in their professional responsibilities; we can accomplish much as we work together at the service of the Church in the United States and beyond.
As of January, Dr. Kurt Martens of the faculty will assume the editorship of The Jurist, the only journal published in the United States devoted to the study and promotion of canon law and in its 70th year of publication. Rev. Sean Sheridan, T.O.R. will assume responsibility for the book reviews. A debt of gratitude is due to Monsignor Tom Green and Sister Rose McDermott for their service to The Jurist these past eleven years. Read more
