Msgr. Brian Ferme, is the dean of the Catholic University of America’s School of Canon Law.  A priest of the diocese of Portsmouth, England, Monsignor Ferme is also the O’Connor-O’Brien Professor of canon law at the Catholic University of America. He received his doctorate in medieval legal history from the University of Oxford and a doctorate in canon law (JCD) from the Pontifical Salesian University, Rome.

 

Monsignor Ferme has taught at Oxford University, at the Gregorian University in Rome, and at the Lateran University, in Rome, where he was also Dean of the School of Canon Law. He is a consultor to a number of congregations of the Roman Curia, a member of various academic societies and a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society. Monsignor Ferme has published three books on the history of canon law and numerous academic articles.
