Spring Canonical Seminar

April 4-5, 2008

Getting the Civil Law Right:
Canonical Criteria For Parish Incorporation
Current Issues in Canon Law

The Spring Canonical Seminar is an annual workshop presented by the faculty of the School of Canon Law of The Catholic University of America.  The seminar is intended for practicing canon lawyers who seek continuing education in areas particularly relevant to their work in tribunal and chancery ministry.  The seminar is offered in conjunction with the annual James H. Provost Memorial Lecture.

The seminar will first address the theological and canonical dimension of the parish.  It will then focus on civil law options available for parishes in the United States and a canonical evaluation of these options.  Finally, the seminar will attempt to suggest a civil law model for parishes appropriate to its canonical status.

The Provost Lecture will be Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 4pm at The Catholic University of America.
